La Maison at Greenbelt 5
La Maison, french for “the house” is a high end dining establishment with posh masculine interiors that go along with its offering of steaks and ribs. The one at Greenbelt 5 had a motif of brown and white which reminded me of hotels and cigar bars. Others may become intimidated which is probably why the place was filled with “suits”.
The place is cramped making it a feat for not-so-thin people to move to their table but I quickly forgot that as the seats were cushioned and comfy. The menu were handed was big and denim. It was a bit of a surprise as I felt denim would be an awkward choice for such a place. Although I did love the detail that was in the denim menus. So much so that I couldn’t help but gush my delight at the waiter taking our orders. I was about to give in and admit that the place was definitely high end when I opened the menu and read - Barkada Meals - that indicated the meals were prepared in large portions meant for large groups. Tsk tsk.
As I was lusting after meat that day, I ordered myself a medium well rib eye steak with a side of mashed potatoes. I waited in anticipation as I watched the other diners get their orders. I salivated as a big plate of ribs went by. My eyes went big at the sight of the mussels in cream sauce.
My food came and I found the serving too big for me to finish… or so I thought. The steak was topped with asparagus wrapped in bacon and one of the most tasteful sauces I have had. It was actually a good mix to the mashed potatoes that totally lacked flavor. The beef was tender although nothing to really rave about. But I did finish the whole thing. The sauce was just too good to have some left over.
All in all, I was satisfied. I plan to go back and try their ribs. I have read they were great.

food here is good, but inconsistent. TRy to aqvoid the salad wih tuna.. the tuna was dry as wood when we got it. Ribs are big and good, but there were other comment on being dry.. thus the inconsistensy. THe mussels are good also the sole fillet…
Hiro - I guess inconsistent is the best term to describe it. Not sure how new or old La Maison is but I do hope they move towards consistency.
