Razon’s Halo Halo
I think that the sun has finally beaten me. Today has been the hottest I have felt this year. It is so hot to the point that I feel feverish. Not a good thing especially if what I am craving for is one of the country’s famous halo halo. This local iced dessert has been the famous for quite some time now but I was lucky enough to try it just recently. You see I was never that much of a fan of Halo Halo. Oh I love iced desserts like Ice monster treats or snow cones but I rarely eat Halo Halo. It is because I end up not eating everything. I only like the sweetened banana and the Leche Flan topping.
Razon’s Halo Halo is simply made. It consists of sweetened banana pieces (saging na saba), some strings of macapuno, shaved ice so thin it feels like snowflakes in your mouth, milk and then topped with leche flan. The mixture comes together so smoothly that you do not get to see the bottom of your glass covered with chaotic bits of beans, kaong, and garbanzos - all stuff I do not like. For P70, it might appear to be a rip-off but I’ll take quality than quantity anytime.
I took this picture after finishing my razon’s iced treat. It was soo hot that I did not stop to take a snapshot before eating it all.

yummy! i like it kasi simple lang
I’d take Razon’s HaloHalo over Chowking’s any day. Yun naman talaga dapat ang magic and warmth ng halohalo eh..that it all blends together..that it all makes sense. hehe..oh and don’t forget, they put in that sugar-ry clear syrup thing. I think its fructose or some sort..
Sean - I totally agree. Its all about the blend.
Plus I really hate to waste food.
nakatatakam naman ang mga fuds na yan

I love razons halohalo.so simple pero ang lakas ng dating.masarap.but but why the price here in manila is expensive compare to tarlac?the same lang naman sila.
i don’t want to be a spoilsport….i’ve tasted razon’s halo-halo and i wondered what’s the big deal…it tastes just like any other halo-halo…maybe i was just expecting too much because of all the articles i’ve read about it…guess i’ll just have to eat one again….
nutzz - That’s ok. Different people have different tastes. I myself love Razons because it actually has all I am looking for in a halo halo. I do not like beans, ube, garbanzos etc and I find myself having to either force myself to eat it or have a tendency to waste it. These days - waste is such a crime. The other think I noticed is that Razons halo halo is sweetened a different way. You do not get sugar crystals left at the bottom of the glass. I wonder what they use… hmm.
